What exactly is the allure of Gu Yan Niu Tao Pi, a frozen ready-to-eat dish, that has even earned high praise from Jack Ma?
Intangible Cultural Heritage Products – Craftsmanship and Quality
Niutao Pi is a renowned local delicacy of Xinchengpu, dating back to the ancient State of Xianyu. Over four generations, from Wang Hebao to Wang Huijie, its artisans have tirelessly refined and perfected the recipe and production techniques. With a history spanning more than two centuries and a commitment to “artisanal craftsmanship,” it has been inscribed on the Intangible Cultural Heritage List. Tender yet firm, fragrant yet not greasy, it has become another iconic cultural symbol of the ancient city of Zhengding.
Gu Yan’s beef jerky is made from premium raw materials sourced from world-class ranches in Australia, Argentina, and other regions. The meat is primarily taken from the tender chest and belly areas of the cow, featuring a delicate balance of lean meat and connective tissue, rich nutritional value, and a fragrant, tender texture. The processing incorporates 18 carefully selected spices and undergoes eight rounds of quality inspection and twenty rigorous tests. Built on time-honored traditional recipes and refined with modern production techniques, this product is crafted without the addition of any preservatives throughout the entire process.
Deep-rooted corporate heritage; the Gu Yan brand is thriving.
Shijiazhuang Huikang Food Co., Ltd. was founded in 1993. Leveraging 25 years of expertise in processing and management for exports to Japan, the company launched the “Gu Yan” brand in 2015 and began expanding into the domestic market. In just three years, Gu Yan’s product line revenue surpassed RMB 200 million. Its flagship Tmall store leads the industry by a wide margin, while its offline distribution network now covers 20 provinces and three municipalities directly under the central government, with strong growth momentum across the board.
Wellcome Foods plans to exceed RMB 1 billion in operating revenue over the next five years and, starting in 2017, has invested RMB 360 million to build Guoyan Food Shijiazhuang Co., Ltd. According to reports, following the commissioning of Guoyan Food’s new facility, its plant layout, facilities and equipment, as well as its level of automation, all set industry benchmarks.
